Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (11-1) took control late in the first half and ran away in its game on Friday against Macomb Community College (7-4).
The No. 6 ranked Aztecs defeated the Monarchs 115-99 in the second day of the Bruce Fleck Classic at the West Campus Gymnasium.
Up 43-35, the Aztecs went on a 17-4 run in the final 4:11 to take a 60-39 lead at halftime. The Aztecs continued to pour it on as they led by as much as 41 points at 93-52 in the second half.
Sophomore Keven Biggs (Cienega HS) scored a team-high 23 points on 9 for 17 shooting. Fellow sophomore Isaiah Murphy (Cienega HS) scored 22 points on 9 for 15 shooting and also had seven rebounds.
Freshman Abram Carrasco (Cholla HS) and sophomore Ilunga Moise (Raymond S. Kellis HS) each had a double-double for the game. Carrasco scored 16 of his 18 points in the first half and also dished out 12 assists. Moise came off the bench and contributed with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Freshman Robert Wilson (Salpointe Catholic HS) also scored in double figures with 11 points on 4 for 4 shootings.
The Aztecs finished with 24 assists for the game.
The Aztecs will close out play in the Bruce Fleck Classic on Saturday when they play Bismarck State College at 3:00 p.m.
