Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (3-0) picked up a huge non-conference win on Friday at the West Campus Gymnasium.
The Aztecs (Division II) defeated No. 7 ranked Odessa College (Division I) 97-90. The Aztecs led 44-39 at halftime and outscored the Wranglers 53-51 in the second half.
Sophomore Keven Biggs (Cienega HS) scored 14 of his 22 points in the first half and also added eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Freshman Abram Carrasco (Cholla HS) was a standout for the Aztecs in the second half as he dropped 14 of his 21 points in the half and also finished with five rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Sophomore Isaiah Murphy (Cienega HS) finished with 14 points while fellow sophomore Justin Bessard contributed with 11 points. Sophomore Ilunga Moise also scored in double figures as he had 10 points to go along with seven rebounds.
The Aztecs shot almost 83 percent from the free throw line going 29 for 35 for the game. They were 20 for 24 in the second half.
The Aztecs will play Grand Canyon at the West Campus Gym on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
