Tucson, AZ –Pima Community College women’s cross country runner Katherine Bruno (Canyon del Oro HS) was recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Monday for her race over the weekend.
Bruno, a freshman, was named NJCAA Division I National Athlete of the Week. She finished in second place with a time of 18 minutes, 43.1 seconds on Saturday at the Thunderbird Classic at Mesa Community College. She was four seconds behind Erika Wallace from Grand Canyon University for first place and was 19 seconds ahead of the third place finisher.
Bruno came off a first place finish the previous week at the ACCAC Conference Championships in Goodyear finishing the 5K race at 18:37.9.
The Aztecs will compete in the Mt. SAC CC Invitational on Friday in Walnut, CA. The women’s race is at 10:00 a.m. and the women’s race will follow at 10:45 a.m.
