Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (7-3-1) got back on track in a big way on Saturday.
The Aztecs defeated Paradise Valley Community College 1-0 in Phoenix as they avenged their loss in the first game of the season at Kino North Grandstand in August. The Pumas (7-4) won the NJCAA Division I national championship last season.
Sophomore Jahmonique Smith (Cienega HS) scored the only goal of the game in the 42ndminute with an assist from fellow sophomore Alexis Hernandez (Ironwood Ridge HS).
The Aztecs and the Pumas each had six shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Tara Kase (Buena HS) finished the game with six saves.
The Aztecs will be return to Kino North Stadium on Tuesday when they host South Mountain Community College. At 4:30 p.m. The Aztecs look to sweep the regular season meetings as they won 4-2 in Phoenix.
