Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (3-2, 3-2 in ACCAC) snapped Scottsdale Community College’s winning streak on Tuesday at Kino North Stadium.
The No. 20 ranked Aztecs beat the Artichokes (3-1, 3-1) 1-0 after sophomore Alexis Hernandez (Ironwood Ridge HS) scored on a penalty kick in the 80th minute.
Both teams struggled to establish field position in a scoreless first half. Sophomore Taylor Inocencio (St. Augustine Catholic HS) had a great opportunity in the 64th minute but the Scottsdale goalkeeper made a diving save.
Sophomore goalkeeper Tara Kase (Buena HS) had two crucial saves in the final 10 minutes and finished the game with six.
The Aztecs will hit the road for the next three games. They will play GateWay Community College at the Rose Mofford Sports Complex in Phoenix on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
