Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Dave Murray Invitational on Friday at the Randolph North Golf Course.
In women’s competition, the Aztecs took fourth place with a total of 131 points. The University of Arizona took first with 27 points, Arizona State University placed second with 32 while Grand Canyon University was third at 72 points. Western New Mexico University took fifth with 132.
Freshman Katherine Bruno (Canyon del Oro HS) had the best finish for the Aztecs as she took 22nd out of 45 competitors with a time of 16 minutes, 02.04 seconds in the 2.5-mile race.
Freshman Sionna Johnson (Cienega HS) took 29th place with a time of 16:54 while freshman Cindy Corrales (Nogales HS) placed 39th with a time of 17:32. Freshman Kaylen Fox (Sahuaro HS) finished 40th at 17:37.4 and sophomore Arianna Roche (Cienega HS) was 43rd at 18:22.3.
In men’s competition, the Aztecs finished in fifth place with total of 140 points. The University of Arizona took first with a team score of 21 points while Grand Canyon University was second with 55 points. Arizona State University placed third with 57 points and Western New Mexico University was fourth with 120.
Sophomore Collin Dylla (Ironwood Ridge HS) had the best finish for the Aztecs as he took 26th place out of 41 runners with a time of 21:18 in the 3.73-mile race.
Freshman Morgan Risch (Flowing Wells HS) was 29th at 21:36.6 while sophomore Victor Bustamante (Flowing Wells HS) placed 37thwith a time of 22:50.0. Freshman Connor Deakin (Ironwood Ridge HS) finished in 38thplace at 23:21.9 and freshman Anthony Sanchez (Flowing Wells HS) was 40th at 23:33.3.
The Aztecs will compete in the ACCAC Conference Championships on Friday, Sept. 29 at Estrella Regional Park in Goodyear, AZ. The men’s race will begin at 8:00 a.m. while the women’s race will follow at 8:45 a.m.
