The 2017 high school football season began fairly smooth for both Pueblo & Rincon as both teams started off strong defensively.
The pressure of a packed crowd on Rincon’s side did not seem to phase Pueblo. The warriors proved to be more robust by stopping and blanking the rangers in all 4 quarters.
Starting the game off on a high note, Pueblo received the ball and scored on their first 2 drives. Pueblo senior; Dominic Carrillo proved to be the star of the game with 3 touchdowns and accumulated over 159 yards rushing, one on a 75 yard scamper late in the final period.
Rincon would not back down without a fight though. The Rangers would recover five fumbles in the game, as one of the few negatives for Pueblo, but the Warrior defense would not let the Rincon advance the ball.
In the 1st quarter, Rincon would average only 3-4 yards per drive, but would pick up the pace in the quarters to follow bumping themselves up about 2-3 extra yards per drive per quarter.
With high hopes for another win, Pueblo will host Sunnyside next next Friday at 7pm, while Rincon will face Dobson High School at home at 7pm.
