KNo. 2/17 Swim and Dive added five titles and have the lead entering the final day of competition.
(Greensboro, NC) To conclude day four of the Big 12 Swim and Dive Championships, No. 2/17 Swim and Dive claimed five more titles at Greensboro Aquatic Center on Friday, including the men’s 200 free relay whose title came following a conference-record time of 1:12.98.
The Arizona State men’s swim team carries a 131-point lead over Arizona with 1,373.5 points. The Sun Devil women carry a 230-point lead over Arizona with 1,227.5 points scored.
The quartet of graduate Remi Fabiani, senior Jonny Kulow, graduate Adam Chaney and junior Ilya Kharun laid out the second fastest time in the nation in the 200 free relay. Kharun anchored the fastest 50 free relay time in school history with a 17.92.
The men’s 200 free relay sets a school record and the conference record in 1:12.98

Earlier in the meet, Kharun recorded his second meet record of the week by winning the 200 fly Big 12 title in 1:37.70. Kharun defended his conference title earlier in the week with a win in the 100 fly in 43.77 on Wednesday. Junior Filip Senc-Samarzic was sixth, touching the wall in 1:44.43.
Senior Deniz Ertan successfully defended her 200 fly Big 12 title with a winning time of 1:56.31. Sophomore Julia Ullman earned silver by clocking in a 1:57.29.
Chaney won his first individual Big 12 title as a Sun Devil in the 100 back in 44.13. The victory marked the third-straight year a Sun Devil has won the conference title in the 100 back, and it was the third individual conference title for Chaney in the event in his career.
Senior Andy Dobrzanski defended his men’s 100 breast conference title with a 51.32 winning time. The Sun Devils swept the top-3 positions, featuring sophomore Lucien Vergnes placing second in 51.65 and freshman Jonathan Itahaki earning the bronze medal in 52.18.
The women’s 200 free relay earned a silver medal in 1:29.47 and was won by junior Miriam Sheehan, senior Indigo Armon, freshman Shane Golland and Ullmann. Senior Gerda Szilagyihad a top-5 finish in the women’s 100 back with a time of 53.33.
Senior Lane Stallworth placed 11th in the platform diving competition, scoring 284.80 points, adding 16 points to the Sun Devils’ team score.
The last day of preliminary swims begins tomorrow with the 200 back, 100 free and the 200 breast. The women’s platform diving is set to take place at 9:30 a.m. on ESPN+. The prelims of the 1650 free will begin at 12:45 p.m. MST.
