(Phoenix, AZ)  The Indoor Football League announced on Wednesday afternoon that Arizona Rattlers quarterback Drew Powell has been awarded Week 7 Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in Arizona’s 41-34 win over the Green Bay Blizzard.

In Green Bay, Powell completed 68.1 percent of his passes, going 15-for-22 through the air with 131 passing yards and one passing touchdown. This was in addition to 15 rushing attempts for 109 yards and three rushing touchdowns. The performance marked the sixth 100+ yard rushing game of Powell’s IFL career and his first since 2019 vs. San Diego–Powell’s second game as a member of the Rattlers. The 109 rush yards were also the second-most of Powell’s IFL career in a single game.

The 2021 Week 7 Offensive Player of the Week award is the sixth of Powell’s IFL career, with his last coming in Week 14 of the 2018 season, playing for the Iowa Barnstormers. Between Nebraska, Iowa and now Arizona, Powell has won the Offensive Player of the Week award for each team that he has played for. In Powell’s last full IFL season (2018, Iowa), he won three Offensive Player of the Week awards en route to being named the 2018 IFL MVP. Powell is the first member of the Rattlers to win IFL Player of the Week honors in 2021, coming out of the teams’ third game of the season.

With the Rattlers hosting the Tucson Sugar Skulls in their home opener on Saturday, June 12 at 5:10 p.m., the matchup now features the IFL’s two most recent IFL Offensive Players of the Week. Sugar Skulls quarterback Demry Croft won the award for his efforts in a Week 6 win over Duke City.

The Rattlers’ home opener against the Sugar Skulls will be nationally televised as the “IFL Game of the Week” on Stadium and WatchStadium.com. To accommodate a national audience, this matchup will kick off at 5:10 p.m., flexed by one hour from its original start time. The game will be Arizona’s first at the newly renovated Phoenix Suns Arena, which underwent a $300 million renovation over the course of the last two years. Click here to purchase tickets to the Rattlers’ home opener on Saturday.
