Arizona defeated New Mexico and Utah to wrap up the 2018 regular season.
TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona concluded the 2018 regular season with victories over New Mexico and Utah on Friday at Bear Down Beach. UA defeated New Mexico 5-0 and Utah 3-2 on senior day, closing out the regular season with a 19-10 record.
In Arizona’s first match of the day, the team met New Mexico (9-13) for the second time this season and earned a 5-0 victory. The No. 1, 4, and 5 pairs defeated the Lobos in straight sets. UA’s No. 2 paid of Kacey Nady and Olivia Hallaran battled through three sets and were victorious in the third, 21-15, 19-21, 15-9. New Mexico’s Chloe Crappell and Yasmin Tan fell to Hailey Devlin and Stephany Purdue 21-12, 11-21, 7-15.
As the day came to a close, Arizona faced Utah (3-10) in a close match, but ultimately came out with a 3-2 win. Arizona’s No. 1 and 3 pair fell to the Utes, but the No. 4 and 5 pair tied up the duel. Olivia Hallaran and Kacey Nady battled to three sets and notched a victory over Utah’s Bailey Choy and Tawnee Luafalemana, 21-13, 19-21, 15-12.
