Aztecs women’s soccer score four unanswered goals in the second half to top Arizona Western College

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (2-2, 2-2 in ACCAC) got back on track on Thursday at the West Campus Aztec Soccer Field as it beat Arizona Western College (1-3, 0-2).

The Aztecs trailed 2-1 early in the second half but scored four unanswered goals to down the Matadors 5-2. Pima scored three goals in a nine minute stretch.

Freshmen Alyssa Kopach (Ironwood Ridge HS), Briannah Gerhart (Tanque Verde HS), Kaitlyn Bassett (Sabino HS) and Alejandra Ramirez (Marana HS) scored the four goals in the second half. Kopach and freshman Nayeli Vidal (Sahuaro HS) each had an assist.

Vidal tied the game at 1-1 in the first half with her goal as the first half ended in a tie score.

Freshman Angelina Amparano (Salpointe Catholic HS) finished the game with seven saves.

The Aztecs will host Phoenix College next Thursday, April 22 at the West Campus Aztec Soccer Field.  Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
