Aztecs baseball’s Parker Schmidt and Wilson Bannister earn ACCAC Player and Pitcher honors

(Tucson, AZ)  Pima Community College baseball players Parker Schmidt and Wilson Bannister cleaned up as the duo earned ACCAC Division I Player and Pitcher of the Week awards respectively for the week of Mar. 29-Apr. 4.

Schmidt, a freshman outfielder from Desert Oasis High School in Las Vegas, Nev., was named ACCAC Player of the Week after going 6 for 9 (.667) with seven runs scored, four RBIs, three walks, two doubles and a triple in three games played.
Schmidt is batting .373 with 23 RBIs, 29 runs, 14 walks, seven stolen bases and 31 hits in 26 games played.

Bannister, a freshman RHP from Centennial High School in Las Cruces, NM, was named ACCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week. He threw a complete-game shutout giving up one hit with five strikeouts and one walk in Pima’s 8-0 win at Glendale Community College.
Bannister is 4-2 with a 4.31 ERA in 39.2 innings pitched. He has two complete–games in seven starts and given up 14 walks with 33 strikeouts.

The Aztecs are on the road at Cochise College for an ACCAC doubleheader today in Douglas.
