Lawson ties for fifth place as Aztecs women’s golf closes regular season at Paradise Valley Invitational

(Paradise Valley, AZ)  The Pima Community College women’s golf team played its final regular season tournament on Monday and Tuesday at the Paradise Valley Invitational held at the Wildfire Golf Course in Phoenix.

The Aztecs took second place for the sixth time this season as they finished with a team score of 765 (389-376). Chandler-Gilbert Community College placed first with 745 (374-371).

The Aztecs produced three players in the top 10 of the individual standings. Freshman Hallie Lawson (Campo Verde HS) tied for fifth place with a two-day total of 184 (91-93).

Sophomore Elizabeth Satterfield (Ironwood Ridge HS) improved by 6-strokes in her second round of play as she finished in seventh place with a 188 (97-91).

Freshman Katelyn Hutchison (Cienega HS) improved by 7-strokes on Tuesday as she tied for eighth place with a 193 (100-93). Sophomore Julienne Gonzalez (Ironwood Ridge HS) took 12th as she shot a 200 (101-99).

The Aztecs never finished below second place in any regular season tournament this season and claimed the Pima Invitational team title. It was the program’s first regular season tournament victory since 2006.

The Aztecs secured a spot in the NJCAA Women’s Golf Championship from May 13-16 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, FL.
