Wilson and Koehler post double-doubles as Aztecs men’s basketball wear down Central AZ

(Tucson, AZ)  The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (5-3, 2-2 in ACCAC) earned a strong road victory against an ACCAC Division I team on Wednesday in Coolidge.

The No. 16 ranked Aztecs defeated Central Arizona College 95-83.

The Aztecs took a 46-40 lead at halftime and outscored the Vaqueros 49-43 in the second half.

Sophomore Abram Carrasco (Cholla HS) scored a team-high 25 points.

Sophomores Robert Wilson (Salpointe Catholic HS) and Kennedy Koehler each finished with double-doubles. Koehler had 23 points and 11 rebounds while Wilson posted 13 points and 17 boards to go along with five assists.

Freshman Rashad Smith (Hamilton HS) fell one rebound short of a double-double as he had 13 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. Freshman Cole Gerken(Ironwood Ridge HS) contributed with eight points, seven rebounds and six assists.

The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Saturday when they host Scottsdale Community College. Tipoff is at 4:00 p.m.
