From the ashes, Micha’s re-emerges and opens as a Food Truck

(South Tucson) Bill McCulloch

What goes through your mind in the middle of the night when you learn your business and your dreams are going up in flames.

That’s exactly the situation that Alex Franco and the Mariscal Family faced on a late Friday night on April 13th. Some described it as a punch in the gut, while others said they felt numb.

The building on South 4th Avenue first opened in 1976. A later addition was added in the 1980’s.

The Mariscal Family has always loves the City of South Tucson and always have given back to the community.

After the Fire, Franco and the rest of the family had to endure the waiting game to learn if any of the structure could be saved. The outside walls were deemed structurally sound as fire damage was more to the roof and kitchen areas.

After approving a preliminary plan on rebuiding, Franco set into motion Plan B, a Micha’s Food Truck that serves tacos and burritos at the present time with other food options pending. The truck is located across the street on the eastside of 4th Avenue.

Micha’s is now back in business as the dream rekindles and is alive. There will still be an extended time period until the restaurant reopens, but for now you don’t have to wait or miss out.

Its unknown if the Micha’s Food Truck will remain in service after the reopening of the restaurant. Amazingly, Micha’s Catering business is also back up and operating. This is a huge shot in the arm for the business.

Their hours are Tuesday through Sunday 7:00 am till 7:30 pm and Monday 7:00 am till 2:30 pm.

Hard work and a never give up attitude has helped the Family forge on and continue the dream that all stared back in 1976.
