Arizona Volleyball releases its 2018 schedule

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona volleyball announced its 2018 schedule on Monday, revealing a 32-match slate that includes 16 home matches to be played at McKale Center. Twelve of Arizona’s 20 conference matches will be televised by the Pac-12 Network.

The Wildcats’ 2018 schedule includes 17 matches to be played against NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago, including 11 matches against Pac-12 teams that finished top 20 in the AVCA top 25.

New season tickets and season ticket renewals for the 2018 season will go on sale on Monday, June 25, while single-match tickets will be available for purchase on Friday, Aug. 3. To purchase tickets after those dates, click HERE or call the ticket office at (520) 621-2287.

Head coach Dave Rubio enters his 27th season in 2018. Rubio will look to return the Wildcats to the NCAA Tournament, where they have been 19 times in his 26 seasons in Tucson, but missed last year for the first time in five years after an 11-18 campaign in 2017 with the youngest team in the Pac-12.

Arizona opens the 2018 season in Sacramento, California, when it participates in the Hornet Invitational (Aug. 24-25). UA will take on CSUN and Utah State on Friday before wrapping up the event with host Sacramento State on Saturday.

The Wildcats will open the home slate with the Cactus Classic (Aug. 31-Sept. 1). Arizona will welcome Lipscomb, Pacific and San Diego State for the two day, six-match event.

The Cats then hit the road for the final time in nonconference play for a three-game tournament in Las Cruces, New Mexico. UA will take on Montana, UTEP and New Mexico State in the Borderland Invitational in Las Cruces (Sept. 7-8).

Arizona will then wrap up nonconference action with the Wildcat Classic (Sept. 14-15). The Cats will face Tennessee Martin (Friday), New Mexico State (Friday) and UC Davis (Saturday) in the event.

UA opens Pac-12 play at McKale Center when it hosts rival Arizona State on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. in UA’s first televised match of the season.

 

The Cats then hit the road for three straight matches. Arizona faces Stanford in Palo Alto, California on Sept. 23 before heading to Oregon (Sept. 28) and Oregon State (Sept. 30).

The Wildcats then return home to face Washington (Oct. 5) and Washington State (Oct. 7).

Up next, Arizona will head to Los Angeles for matches against UCLA (Oct. 12) and USC (Oct. 14).

UA will then have a four-match homestand followed by a four-match roadtrip. Up first, UA welcomes Colorado (Oct. 19), Utah (Oct. 21), Oregon State (Oct. 26) and Oregon (Oct. 28) before heading on the road to face Washington State (Nov. 2), Washington (Nov. 4), Utah (Nov. 9) and Colorado (Nov. 11) on the road.

Arizona hosts USC (Nov. 16) and UCLA (Nov. 18) in the first two of three straight matches at McKale Center to wrap up its home schedule. The Cats will welcome California (Nov. 21) for senior day.

Arizona wraps up the 2018 regular season in Tempe at Arizona State (Saturday, Nov. 24) on the Pac-12 Network.

The NCAA Tournament bracket will be revealed on Sunday, Nov. 25 with the first round beginning on Nov. 29.
