Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College softball team (35-17, 26-16 in ACCAC) was put through the ringer on Saturday in its ACCAC conference doubleheader at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

The Aztecs played in two tightly knitted games against the Coyotes (15-25, 15-25) but one came down to pitching while the other turned into an offense slugfest.

Pima softball head coach Armando Quiroz picked up his 500th career victory at Pima after the team’s win in the first game.

Game 1: Pima CC Aztecs 1, Chandler-Gilbert CC Coyotes

With the game tied 14-14 in the 9th inning, sophomore Alyssa Smith (Winslow HS) hit an RBI single. Later in the inning, Cabral added some insurance with her two-run RBI single to score Smith and Casper.

The Aztecs were forced to rally in the top of the 7th. Down 12-11, freshmen Mackenzie Judge (Ironwood Ridge HS) and Ariana Gomez (Sahuaro HS) hit back-to-back singles.
