Pima women’s soccer gains first victory of the season

 

Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College women’s soccer team (1-1, 1-1 in ACCAC) took to the road on Saturday and came away with its first road win of the season.

The No. 20 ranked Aztecs roared passed South Mountain Community College 4-2 on Saturday in Phoenix.

Sophomore Jahmonique Smith (Cienega HS) put the Aztecs on the board and the score stood at 1-0 after the first half. The Aztecs scored three goals in the second half but had to hold off the Cougars as they scored twice in the second half.

Sophomore Alexis Hernandez ((Ironwood Ridge HS), freshman Paola Rueda-Flores (Nogales HS) and freshman Marissa Cordero scored goals for Pima in the second half. Sophomores Destiny Kelly (Sahuaro HS), Vanessa Huff (Marana HS), Bailey Pedersen (Mountain View HS) and freshman Kylee Martin (Sahuaro HS) had the assists.

Freshman Mckenzie Bernal (Tanque Verde HS) finished with one save and fellow freshman PErla Blanco (Sunnyside HS) had two saves.

The Aztecs will be back on road on Tuesday when they play at Phoenix College at 4:30 p.m.
