Men’s Soccer Banegas named NSCAA All-American

Tucson, AZ –Pima Community College men’s soccer player Hector Banegas (Rincon HS) received another award for his standout play during the 2016 soccer season on Thursday.
Banegas, a sophomore forward, was named first team National Soccer Coaches Associate of America (NSCAA) All-American; one week after being named third team NJCAA All-American.
Banegas was runner-up to the ACCAC/Region I Player of the Year award and earned first team All-ACCAC/Region I honors. He was also named first team NSCAA Junior College Division I All-West Region.
He helped lead the Aztecs to an 18-3-1 overall record and a Region I, Division I Championship while scoring 17 goals with seven assists in 21 games played. He made 19 starts and led the team with 41 points. Banegas kicked off the 2016 season with hat tricks in the first two games.
Banegas was sidelined for the season after the first game in 2015 after suffering an ankle injury. It was his first game coming off shoulder surgery in 2014. He played through the shoulder injury and had surgery in the off-season.
